AVIATION POSTCARD CLUB INTERNATIONAL
NEWSLETTER #64 - SEPTEMBER 2008

CLUB NEWS

There is little in the way of Club news this time , except for another Imperial update .... There are two updates to addresses :

Herbert Lealman no longer operates a Post Office so his address reverts to The Rise, Low Huttons Ambo, York YO60 7HF

Colin Huxtable is at 19 Waterfield Ave FAKENHAM, Norfolk NR21 8EU

I regret that progress on making the Imperial catalogue happen has been slow. Normally one can say that the weather in June/July/August is not conducive to long periods at the keyboard/scanner but that one won’t work this year. Still if Airbus and Boeing can’t forecast delivery times one is not alone.

The issue has been mainly about illustrations. The text only version can be made available now to anyone who contacts me. This can be supplied by E-Mail or in print form. The E-Mail version is zero cost. £2.50 should cover production and postage costs for the print version – in postage stamps or cheque to Doug Bastin, Hampton House, Dee Banks, CHESTER CH35 UU.

I have now decided to try and illustrate one card for each individual aircraft flown by Imperial, plus Interiors for clarification purposes and as many of the Pilot cards as images can be found for. I now aim to publish this expanded version on CD by December.

On the subject of the pilot cards, Barrie James has recently contributed this one of D Drew in front of a DH.50

Drew spent most of his time with the charter division and was hired out as pilot for financier Albert Loewenstein who vanished in mid-air over the channel from his personal Fokker FVii piloted by Drew in July 1928.

Will we see some of the current generation of bankers trying the same from their Gulfstreams, Learjets etc ?
